On Friday, our whole school came together to commemorate ANZAC day in NZ. It was 100 years ago this year that the ANZAC soldiers landed at Gallipoli. We had 2 former students from Tinwald speak to us because they are in the Ashburton Cadets. They spoke about what the day means for cadets and told us about the jobs they would be doing on ANZAC day. Mr Livingstone read 'The Ode' and we listened to the Last Post and Reveille while the flag was lowered and raised again. Each class also spoke about 2 soldiers from around our area who had gone to war but never returned home.
During the week we did some Anzac Art and wrote letters to our parents pretending that we were in the Trenches.
