On Friday, some of arrowsmith went skating at alpine ice in Christchurch. The rest of arrowsmith either, skied, snowboarded, or stayed at school. Once the long bus ride was over, we went straight inside, and got our skates on. After we were all ready for the ice, we had morning tea before the first groups lesson. There were three groups of different levels, there was the first timers, beginner 1, and beginner 2. I was in beginner 1. After all three of the groups had their lessons the rest was free time! I even had a race with Miss Tucker! Skating was awesome!
Lately Manuka has been doing AVAILLL for reading and so far we've completed 2 movies and are in the middle of 1 now.
The movies are: Horton Hairs A Who, Meet The Robinsons, and Because Of Winn Dixie. There are different activities like: Match The Meaning, Synonym Search, and Word Hunt. Any movie you have that's based off a book could be used for AVAILLL at home, and you could test your siblings with it. So try I at home yourself. Last week was the winter tournament, and the sport I chose was hockey. It was a nice day for playing hockey at Argyle park. I did have fun getting to VS the other schools in mid Canterbury, and getting to see faces that you don't see every day. The highlight of the tournament was everyone had good sportsmanship and looking out for each other which is good when you're playing sport. I was in the B team and we only won one of the games, but at least I had fun getting to play.
The first week of term 3 was us diving head first into swimming lessons. I really enjoyed getting taught how to get better at swimming and I got 78% of the stuff well so I'm still working on level 4. I feel like I've improved heaps since last year especially since I went straight from level 2 to level 4. I've got to improve on my bredstroke with my breathing and I will practise it every time I go to the pool.
I'm really enjoying school at the moment, and these are some highlights.
